New Pagans are Cahir O’Doherty, Lyndsey McDougall, Claire Miskimmin and Conor McAuley. Formed in 2016 in Belfast the band have released four songs to date. Ones to watch in 2017! For fans of Sonic Youth, PJ Harvey and Fugazi.
Formed unofficially in the summer of 2015 following the hiatus of Chris Leckey's band PigsAsPeople and a harsh drop in mental health, Leckey began to write songs for a new project, ultimately deciding to make it a solo effort.
Four tracks were recorded in September through October with Leckey playing all instruments and drums/production being handled by Chris Ryan of Robocobra Quartet. Pearl/Lucid Ferries was released in November to positive reviews. Leckey formed a backing band with members of Belfast bands Stonemasons, Matua Trap and apartments; they played their first live show on the 15th of April, followed by two more local Belfast shows and the release of the track Lucifer and Fred.
The Crying Scene
The Crying Scene are a two piece alt-pop band based in Belfast. Formed initially as a recording project to save money on buying real Christmas presents, the band then decided to play their songs live. They share a mutual love of 90's grunge, pop hooks and Preston North End. Their debut DIY album 'Thinking About It Only Makes It Worse' was released in January.
