County Offaly born songwriter Mundy released his debut album Jellylegs in 1996.
So far so good, but it was only when Baz Luhrman chose the song To You I
Bestow to soundtrack the hugely successful Romeo + Juliet revamp. This was a
stroke of luck - dropped by his label in 2000 while working on his second album
he was able to use the proceeds to set up the Camcor record label and self-release
the second album The Moon is a Bullethole. Which would go on to hit triple
platinum status.
It includes his signature song July, an ode to the summer and an
Irish festival favourite. He’s supported the White Stripes and Oasis, worked with
Nina Persson (who also benefited from the Romeo + Juliet soundtrack, propelling
the Cardigans’ Lovefool to the top of the charts) and Shane MaGowan. His version
of Galway Girl has sound-tracked the Bulmer’s advertising campaign. One of
Ireland’s greatest singer-songwriters Mundy can stand up with the best that the
Belfast Nashville Songwriter Festival.
