The Original Achtung Baby were formed by Luke Pepper in 1993. During the 90's, the band quickly became the biggest U2 tribute in the world, even earning direct praise from U2 themselves.
The band has performed on numerous TV shows and radio sessions and past gigs include Sheffield Arena, Don Valley Stadium and The 'Point Depot' in Dublin, to over 7,000 people.
The Original Achtung Baby are all look-a-likes and they take great pride in recreating U2's music. All drum patterns and Bass playing are second to none and Luke's guitar sounds are the very best in the world; even other U2 tributes have asked for a guided tour of Luke's sounds.
In July 1997, the band (with Wayne Taylor on Vocals) performed alongside U2 at the Feyenoord Stadium in Rotterdam, playing to thousands of people. Arriving in style in their own 'Pop Mart' tour bus, they were led into U2's changing room by mistake. The band were later treated to a live rendition of 'One' by U2 for that night's 'Top of the Pops'.
The Original Achtung Baby are a 'musician's' tribute band, performing numbers from every U2 album. Indeed, past set-lists have included note-for-note renditions of 'Acrobat' 'A Black Cat' 'Unforgettable Fire' and 'Gloria'.
In 2009, the band were joined with Frank Bride on vocals, guitar and harmonica and are soon to be known as 'U2-2', the closet tribute to U2, anywhere in the world.
